- DCGAMES - Graphics Adventure Builder
-
- Development on a system like this never ends. Every time I think I'm getting
- finished, a whole batch of new ideas comes up. The following is my current
- list of enhancements that I'll be working on. If you have any ideas, please
- feel free to write or send me a message in CompuServe [72557,336].
-
- See file BUGFIX.DOC for a list of fixes and enhancements made with each new
- version of the game.
-
- 1.- Additional graphics blocks: One of the easyest things to do is to add
- new graphics blocks, either to the LANDSCAPING, the OBJECTS or the
- CHARACTERS. Your suggestions will probably be implemented very quickly,
- so if you have an idea, drop me a line..
-
- 3.- Sound Effects: I'm looking for the right pitch, duration and frequencies
- for BANG, CLASH, CLICK, OUCH, UGH!, etc. I am also looking for some
- limited (very limited) speech routines, that would allow the system to
- use the PC's speaker as far as possible.
-
- 4.- Enhanced Characters: Character alignment (Good,Neutral,Evil), languages
- and gender are amongst the enhancements I'm thinking about. I am also
- looking for suggestions on how to put a little bit more of 'role-playing'
- into the game. The character's alignment and gender are a step in the
- right direction, but any new (or even old) ideas are welcome.
-
- 7.- END-GAME processing: Currently, you finish a game by entering a special
- 'kind' of room. I'm looking for other ways to accomplish the same goal.
- Maybe killing a special character? Or talking to one? May be getting an
- object, or putting it on a certain place.
-
- I also need to enhance the 'end' message. Allow the designer to print out
- a couple of pages of text to close the adventure nicely.
-
- 8.- Animation: I'll probably start by having characters move their hands, head,
- feet, etc. Then maybe a script of movements that a character can follow?
- This is way out in the future. Certainly not this year (1990).
-
- 9.- Alternate graphic blocks: Changing the graphics blocks can turn a regular
- adventure's medieval setting into a high-tech setting for example. The
- graphics block depicting a weapon would not be a sword, but rather a
- nasty looking laser gun (for example). Food would not be represented with
- a well basted turkey but with a CAN of food.

- 10.-Space travel: A variation of the previous item would have the building
- blocks for a solar system, with planets, moons, suns, etc. The main
- scenario would then be a map of the galaxy, and you would travel using
- a rocket between worlds.
-
- In each world, the designer could make a choice of building blocks, thus
- allowing for high-tech worlds and low-tech worlds.
-
- I really could go on and on, but I think you get the point. In order to make
- all this and other enhancements to the system, I really need to get some kind
- of positive feedback from the people out there. The best support I can get is
- a registration, since it means you like it enough to pay for it. The second
- best kind of support is your active suggestions for enhancements and your
- reports of any problems you have with the system.
-
- I Hope you have as much fun using this system as I had creating it.
